Great Weekend in Squaw

While we didn't get any actual skiing or snowboarding in, the weather could not have been nicer for our four day weekend up in Squaw Valley. Hannah got to experience the closest thing to Sea & Ski since the 70's - sledding in the a.m. and swimming in the p.m. at the Resort at Squaw Creek's year-round heated (though not enough) pool & jacuzzi. It was great having the resort practically to ourselves too, being the end of the season. But it still offered plenty of action and relaxation for all of us! Here are a few of my favorite pics...

No way am I getting in that sled with you again!

Daddy crazy...

Much better... I like speed, but only when I'M in control (or Momma is nearby)....

Cannot WAIT to go to ski school next year!

"Look look! aNOTHer CONTRAIL!!"

"Daddy sunglasses, Mommy sunglasses, Hannah sunglasses! I love swimming!!"

Spring Snow at Lake Tahoe

Sledding Squaw Valley

Jumping to a great view!

Fingerprints in the cold snow!

Apres Sledding with a bowl of Mac n' Cheese at Sandy's Pub...

...and wrapping up with a mean game of checkers (it was all we could do to keep Hannah from running away with the King from the chess table!).

Aubrey & Hannah

It was so good to finally meet Aubrey (and lil' brother Liam), who were in town for the weekend, on our way up to Tahoe! Thanks for the BBQ Matt & Curran!

Easter Eggs To Dye and Hunt!

Hannah, you loved dying Easter eggs! You made a dozen beautiful colored eggs, and you only cracked two!

After your bedtime bath, you had a special treat before your bedtime stories:
your very own Easter egg hunt!
You had so much fun looking and finding,
that the Easter Bunny had to keep coming back to hide the eggs after you found them!

Thanks Easter Bunny!
That was fun!
See you next year!

What Goes Up...

Must Come Down...

Again, and again, and again!

Hannah, you are really loving the slide at Mountain Lake Park...
You like to walk up the 23 steps by yourself
(while leaning over and holding onto the big blue round rail)

The first five or six times up you march straight up the stairs,
At the top, you like to say 'Hello' to the other kids
Then you sit down and scrunch forward on your butt like an inch-worm
You inch yourself to the edge of the slide and push off with both hands
You like to lie back with your neck crooned forward
So that you can watch the descent through your toes

The next five or six trips up the stairs you take your time
Watching the other boys and girls, laughing and shouting
As they race each other up the stairs or crawl up the rocks
And then again as they fly down the slide
Some go head first, some try standing, some sit tandem
As you get more tired, the more they start to blur with the
Sky at the top, the sand at the bottom

When you finally get tired,
After more than 200 steps and 10 slides,
You remember to take a break
A nice backwards / forwards break
Where you like to meditate
- on the swings...
